How it all went...

I got a bit giddy with the photo taking whilst we were setting up the exhibition...

Personally I'm really happy with how the work came out, we've kept our main idea pretty close to our chests and not given a lot of information away... so much so that even still people were asking us about our door and if there was anything behind it... but I think first I'll describe a few things with images... :)

Many groups decided not to actually use their doors, others manipulated it in a few different ways and some, like ourselves, used the door as a canvas for all of our work. Where as the majority of groups came up with an idea that they all worked towards as a singular final piece... our own is more like a collection of individual pieces that are all tied together by our theme and the fact that we all used the door as a canvas. Taking direct influence from the Barnstormers each piece of work we created was immediately painted over and erased upon completion... this was a very strange feeling, seeing something you'd just spent hours working on... now completely destroyed and gone.. the only record that we even did any work is captured in the video footage and the few pictures we took also show our progress but we technically have nothing physical to show at the end of this... hence why we decided to once again use our door in the final exhibition in order to project our footage on to.

Rory has a few better pictures of the door in the exhib space but I thought I'd show you what I took alongside some pictures of the door whilst we were working on it...

It was my first time trying to hang a door, but luckily John and Carl were on hand to ridicule me as well as offer advice as we struggled with making the door fit and close properly... good ole B&Q supplied the handle :)

This is what the door looked like at first, to get everyone used to the idea of just drawing onto something of this scale and then painting over it... we started by writing and drawing our ideas onto the door which also proved to be a test for the pens we used... and as I already said... the Posca's saved our lives basically!... I was set on the idea of using Edding markers... but markers in generally were banned after the first disaster and although the pro's use Edding, we couldnt find a supplier... so off to Turners it was! :P

During our little 3D introduction, in which we were shown the facilities downstairs and possible tools/ideas we could use and create, we were fortunate enough to book this space to use for the duration of the project. This is also to show how we set up everything, from the camera and mac to the positioning etc...

We are extremely greatful to John and Carl from the Foundation/3D area for their knowledge, facilities, equipment and company, and I'm also planning ideas for other projects in which I can go and annoy them :)
